Extraterrestrial Scotland

A Scottish mountain valley covered in heather. A animated U.F.O. flies from a clouded sky as sun shines behind it.

Extraterrestrial Culture Day is celebrated on the second Tuesday of February every year!

When you think of Scotland you wouldn't normally associate it with UFO's or Aliens? But what if I told you that a small lowland town in Scotland is actually the capital UFO hotspot of the world?

The small town of Bonnybridge, in Falkirk Scotland has around 300 reported UFO sightings each year, making it one of the most active locations for UFO's on Earth.

Bonnybridge sits between Glasgow and Edinburgh in the Scottish lowlands and has been known as an industrial town since the industrial revolution of the late 1700's. However, this area is also known as part of 'The Falkirk Triangle' which covers Bonnybridge, Stirling, and fife, a triangular highway for UFO's.

A country road in Scotland has a triangle road warning sign with Alien people on it.

According to History.co.uk the strange phenomena of Bonnybridge became known to the public in 1992 when a local businessman called James Walker was driving from Falkirk to Bonnybridge. Suddenly a bright light in front of Walker's car caused him to pull over. Upon viewing the light it became apparent that it was a star-like object which then sped off into the sky. Walker, understandable startled, quickly exited the area.

Scotland is also home to one of the first UFO encounters actually investigated and reported by police. In 1979 forester Robert Taylor was out working in Dechmont Woods near Livingston, West Lothian, when he encountered a landed space ship in the forest. When he approached the UFO, two smaller round objects with spikes lunged and attacked Mr. Taylor. He managed to escape the attack and crawled through the wood. Robert Taylor returned home with ripped clothing and deep grazes on his thighs, hips and face. His wife was so concerned by his state and that he was speaking of UFO's that she called the police. Because of the physical evidence Police opened an investigation as 'assault' making it the first Alien sighting to turn into a criminal investigation.
