Happy Valentines Day!

We're sending all our subscribers and followers our love this Valentines day!

When one thinks of Romantic destinations they often think of Paris, Tuscany, or white beaches somewhere exotic. But for me a romantic destination has always been a warm cozy cottage, with a roaring fire, snuggled up to my loved one, in the heart of Scotland.

If you're a fan of Outlander, then you are probably quite familiar with the romantic aspects of Scotland. While we're not back in the 16th c entury, you can be sure to discover much of the past, if you're lucky you just might find some magical standing stones, or you can sit under the stars, maybe even catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis or 'Mirrie Dancers' as they are called here. They can be seen on clear nights when the conditions are right and make for a very romantic and magical sight.

In the warmer months some of our stunning beaches are bathed in white sand and clear water like on the North Coast of Iona Scotland. Or visit Glen Coe and stand under some magnificent waterfalls and stunning backdrops.

It's nae hard to fall in love with Scotland. So we thought we'd share below a few romantic places to stay solo or with a special someone...

Where? Iona, Scotland.

Why? The Mirrie Dancers (aurora borealis) and White sand clear water beaches.

When? Any time of year.

Where? Yann's at Glenaern House, Crieff, Scotland

Why? This beautiful Scottish meets French B&B is home to some of the finest food and drink in the heart of Scotland. Warm yourself by the fire as you sit with a glass of wine amongst the elegant and cosy home from home decor. After you have eaten in the in-house restaurant, make your way upstairs to one of the Parisian-Scots guest rooms, where you will wake up to the warm smell of coffee and a heated breakfast before stepping outside to gaze upon the surrounding hillside.

When? This romantic getaway is a great winter blues buster, but also equally as romantic in spring and summer.

Where? Brig'O'Doon House Hotel, Alloway, Scotland Why? This stunning House Hotel situated in the Romantic village of Alloway, Ayrshire (the birthplace of Scotland National Poet Robert Burns), offers guests the ability to go back in time. When you arrive, not only are you greeted by the ivory covered cottage manor house but you will walk into the romantic reception area bathed in what could only be the inspiration from Burns' love peoms. With tartan carpets, and nooks and crannies, this characteristicly romantic hotel is the heart of the village, stunningly beautiful from any and every angle. (Perfect for engagements and weddings) When? Off peak times (as sometimes the whole hotel can be privately booked for weddings.)  Visit: www.brigodoonhouse.com
